I participate in the Johnson County Sheriff's Department Citizens Academy and as such, I have been able to help the County save valuable taxpayer dollars. I am able to do some things that the staff would otherwise have to do...like traffic control at parades, mail courier within the offices and departments, booth volunteer at the JOCO fair, Toy and Food Collections - the list is endless ... The Citizens Academy is a 13-week training session that the Department offers several times a year. www.jocosheriff.org is the website where you can sign up to be chosen for this opportunity. I learned a lot and I met some wonderful people. This is a win/win/win for the County and for YOU and the people who you serve. If you always wanted to do something like this and never knew how, NOW is the time - do not procrastinate and JUMP OUT of that comfort zone !!!
