Door prizes !!! What are they FOR ???

When you are invited to a Networking event, and  you choose to take a door prize, what is your PURPOSE for doing that ???  Are you wanting to GIVE a great gift to a ‘stranger’ ?  Are you wanting to hear your name and your company name announced from the front of the room ?  What IS your purpose for taking that gift ?

The TRUE purpose of a door prize, in my opinion, is to CONNECT with another person and make a new prospect or business partner.  When your gift is announced, MAKE SURE you listen and watch to SEE who wins your prize.  Make a mental or e-note of the name and/or the company name of the recipient.

NOW for the fun part !!!  In a couple days, if that WINNER has not called YOU yet, YOU have every right to call and say – “I saw you won my door prize at our most recent event !  I was calling to make sure you are/will enjoy it and I wanted to know if you have time for coffee next week so I could learn more about your company and what you do there ?”

The BEST news of all, IF the recipient of your gift DOES AS I WOULD ALWAYS RECOMMEND, he/she should have called you within about 48 hours of their WIN.  THEY should be the one calling to thank you for your generosity and to see if YOU would like to have coffee next week to learn more about YOUR business and what you do specifically !!!  As the word gets out about the TRUE purpose of a door prize, this technique for effective Networking will soon become second nature to each of us.  In the meantime, get a copy of my book, Networking On Steroids, and learn more valuable tips about Networking and BE SURE to share this with your friends and business partners who are ready to take their Networking efforts to the next level of excellence.  http://bit.ly/NetworkingOnSteroids
